Body Types

Are you worried about your weight? You are not alone!! Every second person wants to lose weight. Losing weight may be difficult but it is not impossible. It requires dedication, planning and determination. Before starting a weight loss program you should be aware that each one of us has different body type and different body metabolism. Our medical conditions are different and our total calorie requirements are also different. So you have to know your body type before you start a weight loss programme. This article is about body types and weight loss and weight gain differences for different body types.

Following are three types of body: –

Ectomorph Body Type

Ectomorph Body Type

This type of body has following characteristics: –

  • Hips and Clavicles are narrow.
  • Wrist and ankle joints are smaller in size.
  • Long Limbs
  • The person has stringy muscle bellies
  • Such body type persons have thin build.

Such people have generally thin and fragile body. It is difficult to add muscle to an ectomorph person’s frame. Their main concern should be to control their diet to avoid fat accumulation in the body. They should eat high density food like almond, avocado and peanut butter. Carbohydrates should be around 50% of the diet. Take small meals and drink plenty of milk.

Mesomorph Body Type

Mesomorph Body Type

This type of body has following characteristics: –

  • Wide hips and clavicles
  • Waist is narrow
  • Joints are thinner
  • Person has long and round muscle bellies

Mesomorph people usually have a naturally fit body. They should adopt a diet plan and exercise regime to complement their build. They should do more of strength training. Such people tend to gain muscle volume easily. They should do aerobic exercises also and should watch against slow creeping weight gain.

Endomorph Body Type

Endomorph Body Type

This type of body has following characteristics: –

  • The body is blocky
  • The person has thick rib cage
  • Joints are thicker and wider
  • Hips are as wide or even wider than clavicles
  • Such people have shorter limbs

 

Endomorph body type persons are likely to gain weight more easily. So they have to be careful so that a correct muscle to fat ratio is maintained. Find out Your Ideal Weight and Body Mass Index

They should do weight training to increase metabolic rate of the body. Calorie intake should be reduced and small meals should be eaten. Do not include junk food, sweets and sugars in your diet. Brisk walking and biking along with strength exercises with light weights will be a good exercise regimen.
